If you’re a leader within your company and have a team of staff members under you, your job extends far beyond the daily facts, figures, and tasks. Your job is to ensure success of the company in whatever jurisdiction you have been given, and that success probably relies more on your team’s work than yours. Your job is to lead, delegate, give directive and ownership, and ultimately make sure your team is happy and fulfilled at work.
If you aren’t making it your mission to be sure you have a happy staff working with you, you are really missing out! Take advantage of all the fun team building activities out there and build a stronger sense of community within your team.
We have gathered a list of the best team building activities you should be doing with your staff to help bring community, unity, and a little fun in the workplace.
Introduce some competition
It may sound counterintuitive in building unity but nothing builds comradery like a little competition! There are so many places you can go to compete, from bowling to game show facilities to your local park for a game of kickball.
If you really want to get people invested in the activity, give the teams a prize to work towards, whether it’s free coffee or extra PTO. Competition can bring out the best in people and help everyone get to know each other a little better!
Get everyone working together
Just as in day to day business, when everyone is working towards the same goal, it can bring a sense of unity to your team. Escape rooms are the newest and greatest ways to engage your team to work together. Participants have to race against the clock to solve the puzzle and escape a room they are locked in.
This is a great way to get everyone involved and for each team member to use their own strengths to contribute to escaping. As a boss, participating in an escape room can be a helpful way for you to discover different strengths within your staff.
Take a break
Getting your team out of the office for a day of fun can be a refreshing way to unify your team. Visit an apple orchard, go sight seeing in your own city, or go for a team hike. Sometimes you can sense your team just needs a relaxing, fun break from the daily grind. Plan a fun day out to give them just that.
Fill their bellies
One thing you can do easily that will always lift the spirits of your team is a free meal. Give your staff a break from the day to day cafeteria options or cold lunch they have each day. Cater a meal from Rudy’s Smokehouse for any of your team building events. Many places allow you to bring in corporate event catering or plan a surprise meal back at the office!
As a leader within your company, your job is to take care of your team and sometimes that means kicking back and having a little fun. You will be surprised how much one day of fun team building will affect your staff and company for many days to come!
