If wedding bells are in your near future, you are probably in the middle of wedding planning chaos. Phone calls, appointments, ordering, and planning will begin to consume your day.
Wedding planning can feel chaotic, but it should be a time of pure bliss. As you slowly cross off each big decision, hopefully the load on your shoulders will feel lighter. One items that will need to be checked off early on in the planning process is a wedding caterer.
As you begin to research caterers, you will find each caterer has something different to offer. You may also find that each caterer has a different way in which they will charge you for your wedding meal.
It can become hard to compare as you search through the sea of caterers each with different pricing systems and options to offer. We have assembled our list of important questions to ask your caterer to help this process feel a little smoother for the soon to be bride and groom.
What is included in your pricing?
As previously stated, you will find quickly that each caterer’s pricing will included different things. Some caterers will give you quotes that include everything you will need for the whole evening and others will only price out the food and have other items such as dinnerware or linens be extra.
One is not necessarily better than the other, but it can make it hard to compare prices, so it is important to be aware of.
What options will be additional charges?
With that said, be sure to know which options will cost you extra. It is common that caterers have add ons that you may be interested in such as linens, centerpieces, or cake cutting charges.
What style of service do you offer?
Find out what your options are for service. Most often caterers will provide either a buffet or seated meal option. You will want to make sure your caterer offers whichever style you were hoping for.
Do you have bar service?
This is an important question for your caterer. If your caterer does provide a bar service you will have a one stop shop for all your food and beverages. If not, you will need to look into a separate bar service.
What are the menu options? Is there room for customization?
Be sure to get a good overview of their menu options. Do they have the style of food you were hoping for? Maybe you are looking for a customized menu, ask your caterer how much flexibility their menu has.
Do you cater to special diets?
If you or your guests will need any special food items such as gluten free or vegetarian you will want to find out whether or not your caterer will be able to provide for those needs.
Will you feed vendors?
Don’t let your DJ, Photographer, and bartender go hungry. Many caterers will feed your vendors for free. If not, be sure to remember to include them in your final guest count.
